Description: The Forestry Map integrates multiple datasets representing conservation lands and forested management areas across Florida’s FDOT District 3 region. The Florida Conservation Lands layer provides boundaries and attributes for over 2,500 managed areas identified by FNAI as having significant natural resource value. These conservation areas include national parks, state forests, wildlife management areas, and public and private preserves managed for long-term ecological protection. The dataset is updated quarterly and serves as the foundational layer for mapping large-scale natural resource systems. The State Forests dataset delineates the general boundaries of the seven state forests located within the District 3 region, supporting land management, habitat conservation, and recreation planning. These state forests are managed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and represent key components of the region’s forestry and resource management infrastructure. The National Forests layer maps the administrative boundary of the Apalachicola National Forest, the largest national forest in Florida and an anchor for watershed protection, biodiversity, and recreation. The inclusion of Apalachicola National Forest provides insight into federally managed lands operating alongside state and local conservation areas. Collectively, the Forestry map supports analysis of forest resources, ecological connectivity, and long-term land stewardship across north Florida.
